Privacy policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. In plain language, because a privacy policy nobody can read isn’t much of a policy.

Who we are.
Bru Hero builds websites for small businesses in South Africa. Our website is bruhero.co.za.
For the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), we are the responsible party for any personal information collected through this site. You can reach us at info@bruhero.co.za or 068 621 4343.
What we collect.
- What you type into our contact form. Your name, business name, phone number and email address. Nothing else, and only what you choose to enter.
- Basic website analytics. Which pages were visited, roughly where in the world the visitor was, and what device they used. This is collected by Google Analytics and doesn’t identify you personally.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records IP addresses and page requests automatically, as every web server does. We don’t use these for anything unless we’re investigating a technical problem.
We don’t collect payment details on this website. We don’t run advertising trackers, and we don’t sell anything to anyone.
Why we collect it.
Contact form details are used for one thing: to reply to your enquiry and, if you become a client, to work with you. We don’t add you to a mailing list, and we don’t send marketing you didn’t ask for.
Analytics are used to understand which pages people find useful, so we can improve them.
Who we share it with.
Nobody, with three unavoidable exceptions:
- Our hosting provider, because your enquiry passes through their servers to reach us.
- Google Analytics, which processes the anonymous visit data described above.
- If the law requires it, which has never happened and we don’t expect it to.
If you contact us on WhatsApp, that conversation happens on WhatsApp’s platform and their privacy terms apply to it, not ours.
How long we keep it.
Enquiries that don’t turn into work are deleted after 3 months. Client records are kept for five years after the last work we did for you, because South African tax law requires us to hold business records for that long.
You can ask us to delete your information sooner, and we will, unless we’re legally required to keep it.
Your rights.
Under POPIA you can:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct anything that’s wrong
- Ask us to delete it
- Object to how we’re using it
- Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa if you think we’ve handled it badly
Email info@bruhero.co.za for any of the above and we’ll deal with it within a reasonable time — usually a few days.
Cookies.
This site uses cookies for two things: keeping the site working properly, and Google Analytics. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. You can block cookies in your browser settings — the site will still work.
Questions about any of this?
Ask us. We’d rather explain it than have you wondering.
